lifeguards-trainingBrownstone Exploration & Discovery Park are excited to announce our lifeguard training schedule for 2017. We welcome Camps and Park & Recreation Departments to send their guards.

The first Job Fair at Brownstone Park will be held on April 22.

In cooperation with the Northern Middlesex YMCA we are offering a full Lifeguarding course with First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Emergency Oxygen Administration and the Waterfront Lifeguarding Module.

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatics emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.

The purpose of the Waterfront Skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in non-surf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds.

Participants will all receive a CPR pocket mask, American Red Cross Lifeguarding book, lifeguard-in-training rash guard, and practice first aid supplies.

Upon completion of this course participants will receive American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years and American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen valid for two years. They also receive an American Red Cross certificate indicating Waterfront Skills valid for two years.
