PORTLAND, Conn. — Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park is hosting the 3rd Annual Mentoring-in-Motion Event June 19-20 to kick off summer and benefit all of the states authorized one on one mentoring programs. Live music, cliff jumping, wakeboarding, and 1000’ zip lines — what better way to jump start summer and help out the local community.
Mentors and their Sponsored Child Play, Explore, Climb & Jump for Free
Celebrate the first days of summer in Connecticut’s ultimate outdoor playground: Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park. Participating mentors and their sponsored child get in for free June 19 and 20, and receive free scuba diving, rock climbing, kayaking, snorkeling or wakeboarding lessons. You can support all of the programs by simply playing alongside them, Brownstone is also donating 50% of weekends gate fees to the charities. Brownstone gates open from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm.
Rock ‘n Roll on the Water
Whether kayaking, wakeboarding, rock climbing, cliff jumping, or just relaxing in the sun, music will fill the quarry to welcome summer. The 2010 Mentoring-in-Motion party features free music from local bands to fuel the weekend, providing seven hours of live music from floating docks. Local favorites For a Cure, Something to Go By, Prizm, Rusted Sliver, and Zayne Couch Explosion are all on the docket, ready to rock on the docks.
All of Connecticut’s One on One Mentoring Providers Benefit from 50% of Brownstone’s Weekend Gate Fees
For the third year running, Brownstone has offered the first weekend of summer to benefit authorized one on one mentoring providers. On Saturday, June 19, Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters will receive 50% of all gate fees, and True Colors and DCF One-on-One Mentoring Providers will receive 50% of all gate fees from Sunday, June 20. “This is the third year that Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park has been kind enough to host us,” said Laura Green, President and CEO of Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters. “We are extremely grateful for their continued generosity. By donating 50% of all gate fees to us on June 19th, Brownstone will make it possible for many disadvantaged kids to be matched with a caring and inspirational adult mentor. We applaud Brownstone’s passion for bettering conditions for children and families living in surrounding communities.”
