Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park Raises Funds for Children’s Medical Center
Portland, Conn. – Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park is hosting the 2nd Annual Spring Plunge and Cannonball Competition For Kids on March 19. This season’s event adds new competitions and events including the Cannonball Competition, Pee Wee Plunge, Costume Competition and the Beach Plunge. Prizes, goody bags and an amazing silent auction all round out the event for this year’s kick-off to another amazing year of adventure at Brownstone. Once again, the goal is to raise as much money as possible as all proceeds are donated to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Sean Hayes, general manager and CFO for Brownstone is very clear about the goal of the event. “Our goal, says Hayes, is to get as many folks as possible out to cannonball, jump and plunge and help us raise lots of money for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. They help so many kids and work tirelessly to get these kids back into action and adventure. And that’s what we’re all about – action and adventure.”.
The day’s activities begin at 11 a.m. with registration and a preview of silent auction items. Both the Beach Plunge and the Pee Wee Plunge begin at noon. The Beach Plunge is designed specifically for those preferring to run or walk into the icy depths and the Pee Wee Plunge, in our special ice cube filled pool, is for our 12 and under adventurists. Of course, all Pee Wee Plungers must be accompanied by a parent.
At 12:30 our aerial adventurists hit the cliffs for the Plunge and Cannonball Competition. This event is designed for the bravest (or craziest) of adventurists. WCCC will be on hand to judge the Cannonball Competition.
At 1:30 the afternoon culminates with our awards presentation and distribution of silent auction items. Prizes will be awarded for the top donating individual, team, best costume and best cannonball. Warm drinks and treats are generously provided by Dunkin Donuts.
Just for pledging, all entrants will receive a goody bag of great items.
